The Scituate Reunion Run is a run/walk event on the Scituate High School Cross Country Course.

This event is held in memory of Roger Jacobs, a resident of Scituate for 42 years, who devoted those years to making Scituate a better community.  All net proceeds of this event will benefit the Scituate High School Cross Country team and The American Heart Association in memory of Roger.

  • Entrants: Limited to the first 100 men and 100 women, so register early to guarantee your entry!

What is this “Reunion”?

  • The Reunion is for each Scituate High School class that gets together to celebrate their reunion.
  • The Reunion is for former SHS Cross Country team members that have always wanted that one more race for redemption.
  • The Reunion is for everyone who comes to Scituate to visit family for the Thanksgiving holiday.
  • But this event is open to everyone!

What is this Cross Country Race?

This event is a run or walk on the current SHS Cross Country course, which has changed little over the years.  The course terrain is on streets, hills, a worn asphalt path, through the woods with exposed rocks, and across grassy fields.  This is not your typical race.  The course is 2.8 miles, which is .3 miles shorter than a 5k…you’re welcome.  (A course map will be added soon)

If I’m fast, what do I win?

There will be awards given for the top male and top female finishers of each graduation year group…yes, graduation year, because this is a Reunion Run.  The graduation years will be broken down like this:

  • 2000 and later
  • 1990-1999
  • 1980-1989
  • 1970-1979
  • 1969 and earlier

Please note your graduation year when you sign up.

Where do the net proceeds go?

Every last penny of the net proceeds will be split evenly between two recipients in memory of Roger Jacobs:

Although we are not asking for anything more on top of your entry fee, we will gladly accept additional donations on the day of the event if you want to give something extra to these two fine recipients.  A donation bucket will be located at the Start/Finish line of the race.

Volunteers and Directors

Nobody knows this course better than the current SHS Cross Country Team.  Your SHS Cross Country team is not only organizing, promoting, and getting sponsors, but they will be stationed along the course as volunteers.  All event volunteers will be wearing an easily identifiable “STAFF” shirt, and will be happy help with any questions you have and to make sure you don’t get lost!

The Board of Directors includes Jake Reynolds (’14), Jamie Kelleher (’14), Shannan Callanan (’15), Aaron O’Connell (’15), Maria Garman (’15), and Trent Linker (’16).  The Co-Directors are Kathleen McCarthy (’91), Mike Jacobs (’93), and Brian Stewart (’05).

The XC Team is critical to the success of the event.  Please congratulate a SHS XC runner on another great season!
